Reus travel tips
One of the reasons many people come to Reus is to follow in the footsteps of Gaudi. There is a route that you can walk along and trace where he was born, baptised, and spent his childhood and youth. Begin your city tour at the Gaudí Centre, located in the Plaça del Mercadal, where you can learn all about his life and works. Then, go straight to the house where Gaudí was born on Sant Vicenç Street. Apart from this, Reus has a four-part destination route, which also takes you to places where other creative geniuses have spent time — so you could follow in the footsteps of Picasso, Miro, and Casals.
The Church of San Pedro is located at the Plaza San Pedro. This church was finished in 1569 but then was destroyed and turned into the public market during the Civil War. In 1941, the church was restored by the architect Cesar Martinell. It is famous for its beautiful stained glass windows and a bell tower with a wonderful view over the city. Opening hours are from 10 to 13:20, and they hold a mass at 13:30 on Sundays. It’s free to enter, but you can light a candle for 1.5 euro to donate to funds.
