The facades of the Royal Liver Building are crowned with turrets with a clock, over which five-meter bluebirds sit. They are chained to keep them from flying away with the luck of the city. A legend says that the birds are a woman waiting for her sailor and a man who is only interested in taverns. When a sober sailor or an honest girl approaches, the birds would scream and flap their wings, but they are still there.

Liverpool is a port city, so it has its own beaches, and the most interesting of them is Crosby-beach. It impresses with the project "Another Place" – bronze figures that symbolise suicides who decided to drown in the sea. There are 100 such figures in total; all of them are created in the likeness of the author Anthony Gormley and are located at different distances from the sea. This view is especially expressive during the ebb and flow. Be careful, though – the tides are fast and strong.

There are not very many hostels in Liverpool. Most of them are located in the city's heart. Dorms cost around £19-25 (€22-30).
