If you find history fascinating, the Museum of East Tennessee History, with more than 13,000 exhibits, gives a colourful insight into the past. One of the main displays is entitled Voices of the Land: The People of East Tennessee, which features interactive displays, numerous period pieces, and interesting personal accounts. The museum also regularly hosts collections of temporary exhibits. The museum is situated in downtown Knoxville, opposite the Tennessee Theater and is open Monday — Friday 09.00 — 4.00 pm, Saturday 10.00 — 4.00 pm. On Sundays, there is free admission, and the museum is open 1.00 — 5.00 pm.

Jump on the free trolley from downtown to the Old City and enjoy a wander admiring the old architecture. Some of the old warehouses have been converted into microbreweries, and the old train depot is now a banqueting venue, while other buildings have been converted into galleries, restaurants and shops — breathing new life into this part of the city.
