The Aiken-Rhett House Museum is situated in an early 19th-century building that was once the home of Governor William Aiken Jr and his family. Much of the house has been preserved in its original style, and visitors can see the original wallpaper and the antique furniture as well as the impressive bronze chandeliers that the Governor had installed. Other places to see include the slaves’ quarters, the stables, the kitchen, and the gardens. Self-guided tours are included in the admission charge.
