How long does it take to receive a refund?

The length of this process depends on the type of refund you have, and how you paid.

Trip cancellation refunds

The timeframe to receive a refund for a canceled trip depends on the type of cancellation.

If you cancel your trip

If you cancel your trip, or choose to receive a refund as part of the Kiwi.com Guarantee, we’ll refund you instantly.

If your refund is in Kiwi.com Credit, you’ll have it in your Kiwi.com account within a few minutes. If your refund is being sent back to your original payment method, it may take approximately 10 days, depending on your bank.

If the carrier cancels your trip

If you don’t have the Kiwi.com Guarantee and the carrier cancels your trip, you can apply for an assisted refund — where we seek a refund from the carrier on your behalf. The length of this process ultimately depends on the carrier. We’ll apply for a refund as soon as we can, but we have to wait for them to send it to us before we’re able to send it to you.
This process usually takes around 3 to 6 months. However, in some cases, the waiting times might be longer.
You can always check the status of your refund under Refunds and cancellations in your account. We’ll also notify you if anything changes.
Once we receive your refund from the carriers, it may take up to 10 days to arrive, depending on your bank.
We always inform you when we’re sending a refund. If you don’t receive it within 10 working days, please contact your bank.

Reimbursement for extra services

If you find yourself in a situation where you’re charged at the airport for a service we promised to provide, we’ll naturally refund you.
Examples can include: if you added your check-in details on time but were charged for check-in at the airport; if you added baggage to your booking but were charged for it at the airport; if we promised to reimburse your expenses as part of the Kiwi.com Guarantee, etc.
Reimbursement related to extra services such as these can take up to 6 weeks, depending on the refund method you choose.
