The second round of winners in the 2019 Awards has been revealed. The overall winners will be announced on 17 April
On 26 February, the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards proudly revealed the winners of their Open competition and National Awards.
This year, the Sony Awards received a record-breaking number of submissions. To be more precise, 327,000 images from 195 countries and territories entered the 2019 competition.
The winners of the ten diverse Open categories will now compete for the title of the Open Photographer of the Year. The overall winner will be announced on 17 April, winning $5,000.
Showcasing the best contemporary photography worldwide
The Sony Awards comprise four competitions in total: Professional, Open, Youth, and Student.
On 5 February earlier this year, the shortlist for Student and Youth competition was announced.
2019 is the 12th year of the Awards. Its goal is to showcase the best contemporary photography worldwide.
The Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition will be on display at Somerset House in London between 18 April and 6 May 2019.
The 2020 Awards will open for submissions on 1 June 2019.
