With its iconic canals, picturesque buildings, and some peculiar features that might not be legal in other parts of the world, Amsterdam has managed to become one of the most iconic cities ever built.
And despite its measures against overtourism the city has been facing currently, the Netherlands’ capital remains friendly towards its visitors.
According to a research conducted by Authentic Vacations, Amsterdam scores the highest among all world-famous cities in factors such as tourist to local ratios, airports’ proximity to the city, the quality of the local airport, overall happiness of the destination, English proficiency, accommodation availability, and safety.
Out of 100 points the researchers established as the overall maximum, Amsterdam scored 70 which makes it the most tourist-friendly city in the world.
The city also prides itself with some of the happiest locals with a score of 14.4 out of 20 possible. With 4.1 points out of five, the Amsterdam airport provides its visitors with a seamless service.
From the top 20 cities mentioned in the list, eight are located in Europe. For instance, London scored the highest in the accommodation factor. Vienna, on the other hand, is a favorite destination for romantic getaways and the locals are accustomed to this with the highest tourist to local ratio score.
Similarly to Amsterdam, Copenhagen also performs pretty well when it comes to the locals’ happiness levels. Visitors can expect a warm welcome when wandering its beautiful streets with no threat as Copenhagen comes out as the safest tourist-friendly city overall.
