It’s no surprise that the land of the Kiwi has the best services in air travel. For five years in a row, Air New Zealand has been named top airline in the world

There are more than 5,000 different airline carriers around the world, and the quality of their services varies significantly. In the cause of improving the overall state of the air travel industry, rating agency AirlineRatings.com has been comparing all of the carriers around the globe and selecting the best of them.

Airline of the Year for 2018 went to Air New Zealand, a carrier based in the land of Kiwis. The airline has won the award for the fifth time in a row.

Air New Zealand was selected the best because of all the factors which have led the airline to become an industry trendsetter. The carrier was followed by Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia and Virgin Atlantic.

“We are looking for leadership and airlines that innovate to make a real difference to the passenger experience, particularly in economy class,” said the team of AirlineRatings’ judges.

The jury uses 13 criteria to assess the best operator. They examine the airline’s safety record, passenger reviews, the innovations in onboard comfort, fleet age and environmental credentials.

According to the jury even getting into the Top 10 means a great success and quality warrant.

“Whether number one or number 10, these airlines are the best of the best – the elite in aviation,” the jury said.

The agency also compared the carriers in particular categories. Singapore Airlines, the carrier ranked second in the main category, won Airline With The Best First Class and Best Cabin Crew. Virgin Australia took Best Business Class, and Korean Air walked away with Best Economy.

Best Premium Economy belongs to the overall winner, Air New Zealand. Qantas Airways dominated Best Catering, Best Domestic Class and Best Lounges. Emirates took home Best In-Flight Entertainment and Aegean Airlines is the Regional Airline of the Year.

Even the budget travelling has its star. The Ultra-Low-Cost Airline of the year is VietJetAir.
