While Canada is the absolute winner of the new World Camping Index ranking, Mongolia is a perfect fit for the ones who love overnight stargazing, and Costa Rica offers the most beautiful natural scenery

Getting away from the hustle of city life and staying surrounded by untamed nature, is simply one of the best modes of relaxation.

To identify where to head for excellent camping time, enthusiasts from Cool Camping have conducted new research in which they compared 53 countries in the world.

In the Worldwide Camping Index, the researchers set ten categories evaluating the natural conditions of each location, including wildlife biodiversity, stargazing, the area of forests and national parks. They also took into account the overall levels of scenery, natural resources, pollution, risk of natural disasters, and rainfall.

Scoring the highest in almost all of the categories, Canada has turned out to be the number one country for camping overall.

In particular, visitors can look forward to a number of national parks, low levels of pollution and low risk of natural disasters. The North American country also prides itself with beautiful scenery and an unpolluted sky fit for nights spent stargazing.

The top first positions also belong to Scandinavian and European countries, as well as to some less expected destinations.

Apart from enjoying and watching the stunning scenery of mountains, forests and wildlife, camping also gives you the option to observe something that has become more and more invisible within a city infrastructure.

To have the chance to see the magnificent stars over your head, it is best to visit countries with larger expanses and a lower human population, such as Mongolia

The country landlocked between Russia and China has the least light pollution out of all states rated in the research with an almost guaranteed chance of spotting Ursa Major or Orion.

While it is no surprise that North American and Scandinavian countries are perfect for camping holidays, some other destinations have come up as mere astonishment in the recent research.

With some of the world’s richest biodiversity in the world, several national parks, rich forest area, natural resources and opportunity for stargazing, Brazil offers campers experience like no other.

But if it is a mesmerizing landscape that is a dealbreaker for you, then you should head to Costa Rica. With a plethora of crystal blue lakes, thick jungle areas and majestic mountains reaching towards the sky, it will offer you a landscape one wouldn’t easily forget.
