Can I enter Belize?

As of April 2022, Belize is open to travelers from all over the world. Nevertheless, several COVID-19 restrictions are in place.

Can I enter Belize if I am vaccinated?

You can enter Belize if you are vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated at least 14 days after completing your vaccination course.

As of April 2022, the following vaccines are approved in Belize:

  • Pfizer 
  • Moderna
  • Astra Zeneca
  • Sinopharm
  • Johnson & Johnson

Travel documents if I am vaccinated 

  • A document confirming your vaccination status
  • A mandatory health insurance 

Can I enter Belize if I am unvaccinated?

You can enter Belize if you are unvaccinated. 

Travel documents if I am unvaccinated 

If you are unvaccinated, please present one of the following documents:

  • Mandatory health insurance and 
  • A negative PCR test result no older than 72 hours or a rapid antigen test no older than 48 hours before departure to Belize or
  • A proof of recovery from COVID-19 that is between 11 and 180 days old

If you can not obtain a COVID-19 test before departure, you will be able to get tested upon arrival in Belize. The test on arrival costs $50.

Can I leave Belize?

Both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers can leave Belize and travel to any country. Please check the requirements of your destination country in advance to make sure you are allowed to travel.

In addition, please check the necessity of the COVID-19 negative test presence in your destination country. Several countries demand tests anyway.

Travel documents if I am unvaccinated

  • A certificate of recovery from COVID-19 (no more than 180 days old before the day of crossing the border of a particular country)
  • A negative COVID-19 test result (the relevant period and kind of test may vary, please check the requirements of the destination country)

As of April 2022, around 51% of the total Belize population has been fully vaccinated. The COVID-19 situation in Belize is relatively safe now.

As of April 2022, only travelers that have tested positive are obliged to undergo a mandatory 10-days self-isolation.
