Can I enter the Gambia?

Presently, the Gambia is open for tourism to all countries with a few simple COVID-19 requirements.

Can I enter Gambia if I am vaccinated?

Vaccinated travelers can enter the Gambia. You are considered fully vaccinated at least 14 days after completing your vaccination course.

As of April 2022, the following vaccines are approved in the Gambia

  • Covilo
  • Oxford / AstraZeneca
  • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)

Travel documents if I am vaccinated 

  • A vaccination certificate

Children below 17 are exempt from vaccination requirements.

Can I enter Gambia if I am unvaccinated?

Unvaccinated travelers can enter the Gambia. 

Travel documents if I am unvaccinated 

All travelers need only a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival in the Gambia. If you have recovered from COVID-19, the test is also required.

Children below 17 are exempt from vaccination requirements.

Can I leave the Gambia?

You can leave the Gambia. Please ensure that you’ve checked the requirements of your destination country concerning COVID-19 tests for vaccinated and recovered travelers. Certain countries demand tests anyway.

Vaccinated travelers must have one of the following documents to leave the Gambia:

  • A document confirming vaccination

If you are unvaccinated, please present one of the following documents:

  • A certificate of recovery from COVID-19 (no more than 180 days old before the day of crossing the border of a particular country)
  • A negative COVID-19 test result (the relevant period and kind of test may vary, please check the requirements of the destination country)

  • Maintaining a social distance in public establishments is mandatory
  • Public transport operates with a limited capacity

Presently, Banjul is open for travelers. Please, follow the usual COVID-19-related regulations.

Do I have to quarantine if I go to the Gambia?

At present, the requirements about quarantine on arrival in the Gambia have been lifted. 

Arrivals are subjected to 14 days of self-isolation only if they fail to present the necessary COVID-19 documents mentioned above.

How do I get a health pass to travel to the Gambia?

Foreign travelers can only print out their copies of COVID-19 documents.
