Can I enter Ghana?

Ghana is open to foreign tourists. Nevertheless, several COVID-19 restrictions are still in place in Ghana. Before going to Ghana, complete a Health Declaration Form within the 72 hours before you depart.

Can I enter Ghana if I am vaccinated?

You can enter Ghana if you are vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated if it has been at least 14 days since you completed your vaccination course.

As of April 2022, five vaccine drugs are approved in Ghana:

  • Pfizer
  • Sputnik V
  • Moderna
  • Oxford/AstraZeneca
  • Johnson & Johnson

  • A certificate confirming your vaccination status

Can I enter Ghana if I am unvaccinated?

Please note that unvaccinated foreign travelers are not allowed to enter Ghana amid COVID-19. 

Travel documents if I am vaccinated 

  • The negative result of a PCR taken no more than 48 hours before arrival
  • Payment confirmation for an antigen test upon arrival in Ghana

Can I leave Ghana?

You can leave Ghana. Please ensure that you are aware of the entry requirements at your destination country. Certain countries demand that travelers take pre-departure tests regardless of their vaccination status.

  • A document confirming vaccination status

Please be sure to check all the rules regarding the language of the documents, the data specified in the documents, and the vaccines that are accepted at your destination.

Travel documents if I am unvaccinated

  • A certificate of recovery from COVID-19 (no more than 180 days old before the day of crossing the border of a particular country) or
  • A negative COVID-19 test result (the relevant period and kind of test may vary, please check the requirements of the destination country)

Currently, Ghana is a relatively safe place when it comes to COVID-19. Nevertheless, your travel will be safer if you take the following basic precautions:

  • Keeping a social distance

Is Accra open for travel now?

Accra is open for travel now. You can visit the city’s main attractions provided you adhere to the countrywide measures. 

Do I have to go into quarantine if I go to Ghana?

You will be required to self-isolate for seven days if you test positive from an on-arrival test in Ghana. (This applies mostly to unvaccinated travelers.)

How do I get a health pass to travel to Ghana?

Foreign arrivals can use the Ghanaian Health Declaration Form to digitize all their essential COVID-19 documents.
