Can I enter Guatemala?

You can enter Guatemala providing you abide by the COVID-19 requirements, which vary depending on your vaccination status.

Can I enter Guatemala if I am vaccinated?

You can enter Guatemala if you are vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated if at least 14 days have passed after completing your vaccination course.

At present, the following vaccine drugs are approved in Guatemala:

  • Sputnik V
  • Spikevax (Moderna)
  • Comirnarty (Pfizer)
  • Vaxzevria (Oxford / AstraZeneca)

  • A document confirming your vaccination status (if aged 12 and over)

Can I enter Guatemala if I am unvaccinated?

You can enter Guatemala if you are unvaccinated.

  • The result of a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival

Can I leave Guatemala?

There are no COVID-19 restrictions for leaving Guatemala.

  • A document confirming vaccination status

Please ensure that you’ve checked the testing requirements of your destination country in advance.

Travel documents if I am unvaccinated 

  • A certificate of recovery from COVID-19 (no more than 180 days old before the day of crossing the border of a particular country)
  • A negative COVID-19 test result (the relevant period and kind of test may vary, please check the requirements of the destination country)

Is it safe to travel to Guatemala right now?

Yes, it is safe to travel to Guatemala if you follow basic measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Use hand sanitizers
  • Avoid public gatherings

Is Guatemala City open for travel now?

The capital of Guatemala is open for tourists now. Please note that the COVID-19 restrictions in place in Guatemala City are the same as those in the rest of the country. 

Do I have to go into quarantine if I go to Guatemala?

As of April 2022, there is no quarantine mandate in place in Guatemala.

How do I get a health pass to travel to Guatemala?

Currently, all digital health passes from other countries are accepted in Guatemala. If you don’t have a digital health pass, you should carry paper copies of your Covid-related documents.
