Can I enter the Maldives?

The Maldives are open for travel to most countries of the world. Nevertheless, please note that several COVID-19 restrictions are in place now.

Can I enter the Maldives if I am vaccinated? 

You can enter the Maldives if you are vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated at least 14 days after administration of the second dose for vaccines with a two-dose schedule; or at least 21 days after administration of the vaccine with a single-dose schedule. 

As of April 2022, the following vaccine drugs are approved in the Maldives:

  • Pfizer / BioNTech
  • Moderna / Spikevax
  • Sputnik V
  • Janssen / Johnson & Johnson
  • Covishield
  • Covilo

Travel documents if you are vaccinated

Since March 2022, international travelers no longer have to present their vaccination certificates and other COVID-19 documents. 

Nevertheless, be aware that rules may change rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Can I enter the Maldives if I am unvaccinated? 

You can enter the Maldives if you are unvaccinated. 

Travel documents if you are unvaccinated

From March 2022, PCR tests are no longer required for foreign travelers to enter Maldives. However, it is strongly recommended to take a PCR test between days three and five after arrival.

Who cannot enter the Maldives?

At present, visitors from all countries can travel to the Maldives. There are no COVID-19 restrictions concerning a certain country or a list of countries.  

Be sure to check all other necessary documents, such as a valid passport, an onward/return ticket, and sufficient funds. In some instances, a visa is also required.

Can I leave the Maldives?

There are no COVID-19 restrictions for leaving the Maldives. Please check the destination country’s requirements concerning COVID-19 tests (even for fully vaccinated arrivals) and entry declarations in advance. 

Can I leave the Maldives if I am vaccinated?

Vaccinated travelers can leave the Maldives.

Can I leave the Maldives if I am unvaccinated?

There are no restrictions for unvaccinated travelers on leaving the Maldives.

Travel documents if you are unvaccinated

Unvaccinated travelers have to present one of the following documents: 

  • Documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (stating that the visitor has been infected no older than 180 days before the day of crossing the border of a particular country)
  • A negative COVID-19 test result (the relevant period and kind of test may vary, please check the requirements of your destination country)
