Can I enter Rwanda?

As of May 2022, foreign travelers can enter Rwanda following a number of COVID-19 restrictions.

Can I enter Rwanda if I am vaccinated?

Presently, vaccinated travelers can enter Rwanda.

There are six vaccine drugs approved in Rwanda (as of May 2020):

  • Pfizer / BioNTech
  • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)
  • Oxford / AstraZeneca
  • Moderna
  • Covilo
  • Sputnik V

Travel documents if you are fully vaccinated

If you are vaccinated, please present both documents:

  • A vaccination certificate 
  • A negative PCR test result taken within 73 hours before arrival in Rwanda

Can I enter Rwanda if I am unvaccinated?

Unvaccinated travelers can enter Rwanda.

Travel documents if you are unvaccinated

If you are unvaccinated, please present:

  • A negative PCR test result taken within 73 hours before arrival in Rwanda

Please note that the status of recovery from COVID-19 also has to be supplemented by the COVID-19 test.

Can I leave Rwanda?

There are no COVID-related restrictions for leaving Rwanda.

Travel documents if you are vaccinated

Vaccinated travelers must have a document confirming vaccination. Please learn the requirements of a particular country in advance.

Travel documents if you are unvaccinated

Unvaccinated travelers have to present one of the following documents: 

  • Documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (it has to state that the visitor has been infected no later than six months before the day of crossing the border of a particular country)
  • A negative COVID-19 test result (the relevant period and kind of test may vary, please check the requirements of the destination country)

Is it safe to travel to Rwanda right now?

Travel to Rwanda is relatively safe currently if you follow standard COVID-19 regulations in place, like:

  • Wearing masks indoors
  • Keeping social distance

Is Kigali open for travel?

International travel to Kigali is possible now. You can visit all the beautiful sights without any restrictions.

Do I have to quarantine if I go to Rwanda?

As of May 2022, all travelers are required to undergo a PCR test upon arrival in Rwanda. You will have to self-isolate until receiving the negative result (usually, up to 24 hours).

How do I get a health pass to travel to Rwanda?

A Passenger Locator Form completed before arrival in Rwanda will be used as a health pass.
