Can I enter Samoa?

As of May 2022, the borders of Samoa remain closed until further notice. Please note that traveling for tourism is forbidden now, and the following COVID-19 restrictions apply only to eligible travelers with essential circumstances.

When traveling to Samoa, all travelers are recommended to communicate straight to the Samoa Health Authorities 21 days before planned travel time by email to clarify accurate COVID-19 requirements.

Can I enter Samoa if I am vaccinated? 

You can enter Samoa if you are vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated if you have received both doses of vaccine (or one dose in case of a single-dose vaccine) at least 14 days before arriving in Samoa.

As of May 2022, the following vaccine drugs are approved in Samoa:

  • AstraZeneca
  • Pfizer
  • Janssen
  • Moderna
  • Sinopharm
  • Sinovac
  • Covaxin
  • Novavax

Travel documents if you are vaccinated

If you are vaccinated, present both documents until February 28:

  • A hard copy of a vaccination certificate
  • A hard copy of a negative COVID-19 test result (RT-PCR, NEAR, TMA, LAMP, or SDA) taken within 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight to Samoa

Please be aware that digital copies are not accepted. Prepare paper copies in advance.

The vaccination certificate must be in English and contain the following data:

  • Name of country
  • Name of person – should be the same as the name on passport or birth certificate
  • National Identification / Registration Number if available
  • Address of clinic and contact details
  • Name of vaccine and batch number
  • Dates of vaccination
  • Name of vaccinator (optional)
  • Health Institution Stamp, if available

Can I enter Samoa if I am unvaccinated?

Please be aware that unvaccinated travelers are not allowed to enter Samoa currently.

Can I leave Samoa?

You can leave Samoa. 

Can I leave Samoa if I am vaccinated?

Vaccinated travelers can leave Samoa if they are vaccinated.

Can I leave Samoa if I am unvaccinated?

Unvaccinated travelers can leave Samoa.

If you are unvaccinated, please present one of the following documents:

  • Documentation of recovery from covid (no more than 180 days old before the day of crossing the border of a particular country)
  • A negative covid test result (the relevant period and kind of test may vary, please check the requirements of your destination country)

Is it safe to travel to Samoa right now?

As of May 2022, your travel to Samoa is safe if you follow local COVID-19 regulations:

  • Masks are mandatory indoors 
  • Most big cities require vaccination certificates to enter even non-essential venues

Is Apia open for travel?

International travel to Apia is possible since the capital is open. Nevertheless, you have to follow all nationwide COVID-19 regulations listed above. 

Do I have to quarantine if I go to Samoa?

As of May 2022, all travelers are obliged to self-isolate for 10 days.
