The German flag carrier will extend its connections from Frankfurt and Munich in spring 2019
The route will be Lufthansa’s third direct line to Texas alongside Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston. Airbus A330-300 aircraft will operate the route five times a week.
“This is a major leap forward for our community,” said Doug Driskill, Austin Chamber of Commerce Vice Chair for Air Services, in a release announcing the news.
“The new nonstop service to continental Europe, and the addition of an award-winning carrier in Lufthansa that will soon be serving Austin, is crucial to our region’s business recruitment and retention activities. It also provides direct economic benefits to our local economy.”
Every day – except for Tuesday and Thursday – the LH 468 flight will leave the Lufthansa hub in Frankfurt in the morning and reach Austin in the afternoon local time with the travel time of around ten hours.
The return flight is scheduled to depart from Texas in the late afternoon and to land at Frankfurt Airport in the morning of the following day. On board, passengers can expect the usual high level of Lufthansa comfort in 255 seats in Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class.
Starting on 1 June, the airline will also launch its new connection from Munich to Bangkok, Thailand. With the new connection, the company is further expanding the Bavarian Lufthansa hub into an Asia hub. New Airbus A350-900 aircraft will be used for the route which will take off daily from Munich to Thailand in the afternoon.
