The Symphony of the Seas also takes the title as the world’s most Instagrammable
After three years of hard work, ship designers at Royal Caribbean have managed to set the world’s largest cruise ship to sea.
The Symphony of the Seas, that can host about 6,680 guests and around 2,200 crew members, set sail from Barcelona on its inaugural voyage around the Mediterranean on April 7.
“Eight out of 10 of the largest ships in the world were built by Royal Caribbean, but this one really pushes the envelope,” Balwin Yeung, Royal Caribbean’s director of sales and marketing in Hong Kong, told CNN.
“At the same time, you don’t really feel crowded because there are 18 decks on the ship. It’s like a building, right? There are 24 elevators and seven neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own personality, so it tends to naturally segregate the crowds.”
The vessel stretches 362 metres long, is almost 73 tall, and has 22 restaurants, 24 pools and 2,759 cabins.
Not only is the cruise ship the largest ever built, it is also home to the ocean’s fastest internet, the tallest waterslide at sea, and displays more artwork than the Louvre museum has paintings.
For its unique design, Symphony of the Seas is also bearing the title of world’s most Instagrammable. The agency even hired an Instagrammer-in-chief, Russ Francis, to take care of its appearance on the social network. His role is also to help inspire guests to do the ship justice through their Instagram content.
“For something to be truly Instagrammable it has to be unique enough that people want to show off about it” he said.
“It’s so much more than being a pretty setting. Extraordinary Instagram content causes a reaction whether that’s jaws dropping in amazement or mouths watering at the very best dishes, it’s about capturing experiences that ‘wow’ the viewer. Symphony of the Seas ticks every single box making it the world’s most Instagrammable cruise ship.”
