Asia dominates this year’s Skytrax World’s Best Airport Award while three out of the top ten airports belong to Japan

Travellers heading to Singapore by plane can look forward to experiencing the best an airport can offer. For the seventh consecutive year, the city state’s Changi airport has been named the very top on Earth at the Skytrax World’s Best Airport Award.

Singapore offers connections to 200 destinations worldwide, with 5,000 arrivals and departures a week on 80 airlines. It is also home to the world’s most frequent international flight as well as the longest commercial flight in operation. Even the best airline in the world — Singapore Airlines — has been calling Changi its major hub.

To enhance the customer experience Changi’s new multi-dimensional tourist complex called Jewel will open its gates on 17 April.

The annual Skytrax rating evaluates reviews directly from passengers and creates a list of the most popular airports. For the first time in the history of the awards, an airport has won this title for seven consecutive years.

From this year’s results, it is obvious that the customer experience expertise belongs to Asia. Out of the top ten best airports in the world, seven belong to the largest continent while three of them are in Japan alone. The very best Japanese airport is in Tokyo, followed by the one in Chubu and Narita. South Korean Incheon International Airport in Seoul ranks third this year.

The best non-Asian airport is in Munich, Germany, that ranks seventh overall, while the UK’s largest airport — London Heathrow — is eight and Zurich in Switzerland has been placed on the tenth position.
