Female flight attendants will wear comfortable pantsuits and Nike shoes

Ukraine’s biggest budget airline is making a move away from traditional flight attendant uniforms and towards a dress code that is forward-looking, stylish, and comfortable. Female flight attendants will be equipped with loose-fitting pantsuits and white Nike shoes.

The new SkyUp Champions uniform will make its debut in the fall of 2021. Designed in collaboration with the Ukrainian fashion brand GUDU, it incorporates the idea of movement.

“The form is created for active, bold, bright; those who do not like superfluous officialdom, but appreciate style […] These are clothes for those who are open to new things, those who love travel and life,” said the airline in a statement on its website.

Orange pantsuits, a new make-up palette, and a bigger range of hairstyles

The female crew will be able to replace pencil skirts, blazers, and high heels for more comfortable orange pantsuits and trench coats from Italian eco-leather. Instead of heels, they will wear the Nike Air Max 720 sneakers as part of the company’s efforts to reduce waste and environmental impact.

The new uniform will be touched up with a sky-blue silk scarf on the shoulder loop of the jacket and coat as opposed to being tied around the neck.

Alongside the wardrobe update, SkyUp will introduce a new make-up palette of blue and orange reflecting the color of the sky during sunrise and sunset. At the same time, it will expand on the possibilities of different hairstyles, including loose waves, rather than staying true to the classic bun.

“Times have changed, women have changed, so in contrast to the conservative classics, heels, red lipstick and a bun, a new, more modern and comfortable image of a ‘champion’ has appeared. Freedom, natural beauty, individuality, no patterns and sneakers in which everyone ‘would like to fly’,” said Marianna Grigorash, Head of SkyUp Airlines Marketing Department.

As for now, the male flight attendant uniforms will remain the same.
