This year’s drinking equivalent of Oscar goes to London’s Dandelyan – the very best bar in the world
If you feel the need quench your thirst in style, we have just the right spot for you.
In its 10th year, a highly anticipated World’s 50 Best Bars Awards – a watering hole equivalent to the Oscar – has selected London’s Dandelyan the ultimate number one bar in the world.
“If being considered the best requires meeting the highest of standards, it also requires surpassing them. The innovative Dandelyan, the winner of The World’s Best Bar Award, sponsored by Perrier, has done that in just about all measures of the bar experience,” said the World’s Best Bar Awards.
Located on the south bank of the Thames river with the view over St Paul’s Cathedral, the bar is the outcome of the creative work of bartending pioneers Ryan Chetiyawardana and Iain Griffiths.

Despite being high-end, the bar remains relatively accessible featuring “trendy pink, green and gold décor, relaxed but emotionally intelligent service and cocktails that make you think.”
“I’m flabbergasted,” said a dazed-looking mixologist-in-chief Ryan Chetiyawardana shortly after the highly anticipated results were announced.
“In a way, it’s the most fitting thing,” he added. “We have worked so hard and with so much passion and we’re now at the pinnacle of the industry.”
While the awarded bars are scattered all around the globe, 11 out of the 50 winning watering holes are London-based making the UK’s capital the mecca of world-class bars.
American Bar, located at the Savoy Hotel, has ended up right on the second place, while Connaught Bar was fifth and Bar Termini sixth.
