AirlineRatings.com announced Qantas as the winner and revealed a list of the safest low-cost airlines for 2020
It is a well-known fact these days that flying is the safest means of transportation in the world. A new ranking reveals the winners when it comes to airline safety for the year 2020.
Out of hundreds of airlines it monitors, AirlineRatings.com has not only announced the winning airline, it has also selected its Top Twenty Safest Airlines and Ten Safest Low-Cost Airlines for 2020. The website announces the results in an annual review.
AirlinesRatings.com considers a number of factors when evaluating the safety of a total of 405 airlines. These include audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies, government audits, airline’s crash and serious incident record, profitability, industry-leading safety initiatives, and fleet age.
Qantas has been rated at the top of the list since 2014
Qantas, Australia’s flag carrier, has been put on the top of the list, scoring as the safest for seven consecutive years. “The world’s oldest continuously operating airline has amassed a truly amazing record of firsts in operations and safety and is now accepted as the industry’s most experienced airline,” said the site.
The only hiccup in Qantas’ otherwise flawless score was in 2018 when it shared its victory with the top 20 safest airlines on the list.
According to the website, all the selected airlines have been leaders in “safety innovation, launching new aircraft and they have become a byword for excellence”.
AirlineRatings.com was launched in 2013 and rates the safety and in-flight product of 405 airlines across the globe using its seven-star rating system.
