The sun is slowly returning to the northern hemisphere and it seems that now is the right time to plan where to head for a summer holiday.

And where else to spend your free time escaping the hustle of the city life than on a stretch of white sand surrounded by crystal-clear waters immensely?

For this reason, the world’s largest site for travel reviews — TripAdvisor  — has unveiled this year’s travel choice awards winners in a fitting category — the best beaches.

To name the best beaches in the world, as well as in particular continents and countries, TripAdvisor evaluated the quantity and quality of travel reviews and bubble ratings for beaches gathered over a 12-month period.

And here are the three best beaches for 2019.

This year’s absolute winner: Praia Baio do Sancho

Located on the banks of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago in Brazil, Praia Baio do Sancho — or the Bay of Sancho — is a true jewel for travellers seeking isolation and emerald-green waters. Untouched flora and fauna and a restricted number of visitors make this beach a rare piece of preserved paradise.

However, to access the beach, visitors need to pre-register and as to descend three sets of stairs built within the crack of a rock formation.

“The place is so perfect that I decided to propose to my partner in there. There would be no other place I would rather do,” said TripAdvisor user Kelnner F.

“One of the best beaches in the world that has an amazing view of the Two Brothers Hill and the Bay of Sancho that asks to be accessed by an iron staircase with a schedule to descend and rise according to the tide,” said another user Cristiane M.

Varadero Beach, Varadero, Cuba

Stretching over 20 kilometres, the Varadero Beach in the province of Matanzas is considered one of the most touristy districts in Cuba, as well as one of the largest resort areas in the whole Caribbean region.

Varadero prides itself with clear white sands and a plethora of natural heritage, such as accessible caves and a chain of virgin cays. There’s an activity to pick from for any type of tourist and the nearby town offers everything a demanding society could need.

“The water was so calm, clear and beautiful shades of aqua and blue. I loved swimming out far to sea on the really calm days. It was so peaceful to watch the schools of silver fish swim under me. I hope to return to Varadero one day,” said TripAdvisor user trvlwrldgrl.

“Back to Varadero beach for the ninth time. Never get tired of the beauty of the beach and the warm water,” added user Nadine S.

Eagle Beach, Aruba

The tiny Dutch Caribbean island country of Aruba boasts various beautiful beaches. But one in particular has been getting the best reviews on TripAdvisor — the Eagle Beach.

The shore is famous for its pristine and soft white sands and for being home to two of the most photographed and renowned fofoti trees in Aruba.

“Beautiful place to relax and forget winter and snow and all the winter issues and enjoy the sun and surf,” TripAdvisor user 57280 describes the Eagle Beach.

However, if you belong to those who like to free themselves from the slavery of clothes, this might not be the right place. Nudity is strictly prohibited on the beaches of Aruba.
