Self-transfer during layover

If you have a self-transfer in your trip, your connections are not covered by the carriers.
We combine separate flights, trains, or buses to offer you more options and better deals.
Our
Kiwi.com Guarantee protects all self-transfers.
You might need to leave the transit zone at the transfer airport and go through security and customs again. Here's why:

Recheck baggage between flights
If you have checked baggage (or cabin baggage that needs to be checked in due to COVID-19 safety measures), you will need to recheck it.
  • Collect your baggage at the transfer airport. Go to the Baggage claim area and look for the belt with your previous flight number.
  • Leave the transit zone and take your baggage to the check-in counter (or baggage drop) for your next flight.
  • Go through security and customs to the gate of your next flight.
Check in for your next flight
If you do not have your boarding pass for the next flight, you will need to go out of the transit zone to check in.

Immigration
You might need to leave the transit zone even if you do not have checked baggage and you are already checked in for the next flight.
Sometimes you need to go through passport control and immigration right after your arrival.
If you need a visa to enter a country, then you’ll probably also need it to transit through that country. You’ll find more info here.
Transfer between different airport terminals
At some large airports, you’ll need to travel to a different terminal. The terminals might not be connected.
Download the Kiwi.com app to see airport info and terminal maps. You'll find it under, "Trip info".
