How long does it take to receive a refund?
The length of this process depends on the type of refund you have, and how you paid.
Trip cancellation refunds
The timeframe to receive a refund for a canceled trip depends on the type of cancellation.
If you cancel your trip
If you cancel your trip, or choose to receive a refund as part of our disruption services, when you’ll get your refund depends on the type of refund it is.
If your refund is in Kiwi.com Credit, you’ll have it in your Kiwi.com account within a few minutes. If your refund is being sent back to your original payment method, it may take approximately 7 days, depending on your bank.
If the carrier cancels your trip
If you don’t have our disruption services and the carrier cancels your flight, you can apply for an assisted refund — where we seek a refund from the carrier on your behalf. The length of this process ultimately depends on the airline. We will send the refund request to the airline right away. We’ll apply for a refund as soon as we can at no additional payment to you, but we have to wait for them to send it to us before we’re able to forward it to you.
This process usually takes around 14 days (7 for carriers, and 7 for Kiwi.com). However, in some cases, the waiting times might be longer depending on how long it takes the airline to review the refund request.
Please check the status of any other flights you have booked with Kiwi.com individually too. You can always check the status of your refunds through your Kiwi.com account. We’ll also notify you if anything changes. You can see the status of your refund for all your separate flights in your account.
Once we receive your refund from the carriers, it may take up to 7 days to arrive, depending on your bank.
We always inform you when we’re sending a refund. If you don’t receive it within 10 working days, please contact your bank.
Reimbursement for extra services
If you find yourself in a situation where you’re charged at the airport for a service we promised to provide, we’ll naturally refund you.
Examples can include: if you added your check-in details on time but were charged for check-in at the airport; if you added baggage to your booking but were charged for it at the airport, etc. Please note Kiwi.com cannot offer support with any miscellaneous costs at the airport you experience outside of control such as airport taxes. Your refund options depend on the policies of your ticket fare and the types of services you’ve purchased.
Reimbursement related to extra services such as these can take up to 6 weeks, depending on the refund method you choose.
