Budapest Airport Smart Pass — bud:connects


Travel update July 17, 2020 — bud:connects welcomes you to travel via Budapest Airport again
Budapest Airport has introduced new measures to ensure that you have a safe, smooth transfer at the airport while waiting for your connecting flight. 

All areas of the airport are frequently sanitized, airport staff is equipped with personal protective equipment, hand disinfectants are available throughout the terminal, and dedicated signage is in place to remind everyone to practice social distancing.

bud:connects transfer desks will open on July 1, and specially trained agents are ready to support you. Please approach these desks for any request related to your transfer.

Please remember to bring a face mask with you and to wear it at the airport at all times as well as in the aircraft. Wash your hands frequently and keep a safe distance from other passengers by respecting the dedicated signage in the terminal. 

According to the current safety measures, airport staff will check your temperature on arrival and the police could ask for your passport to see your nationality.

Now is the time to be mindful. Fly via Budapest with peace of mind. Everything is ready for you.

Travelers with passports from the EU (excluding Sweden, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Romania), Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Iceland
  • You are allowed to enter Hungarian territory and therefore you can collect your checked baggage when arriving in Budapest.
Travelers with other passports (including Sweden, Portugal, Bulgaria and Romania)
  • Due to the current COVID-19 Hungarian government restrictions, please note that you are not allowed to fly via Budapest with checked baggage and we strongly recommend you not to do so.
  • Travelers with a passport issued by the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarus, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Russia, and Serbia can enter the Hungarian territory if they have already a medical certificate, no older than 4 days and signed by a medical professional, confirming that they tested negative for COVID-19 two times within 5 days of the arrival date. In case the passenger is not able to provide it, they cannot enter Hungarian territory, or they must go into quarantine for two weeks.
  • Transit at Budapest Airport with no checked baggage is permitted for travelers of all nationalities without a medical certificate, provided that they can show a valid onward flight and authorization to enter the final destination country.
  • If your flight to Budapest Airport is operated by Wizz Air, please show your Kiwi.com itinerary at the check-in or boarding gate to let the airline’s agents know that your final destination is not Budapest.

How to get help at the bud:connects transfer desks
  • Follow the signs to reach one of the two bud:connects transfer desks. See the map below.
  • Specially trained agents will be there to assist you with your transfer, boarding passes, etc.
  • They also have mobile phones which you can use to contact Kiwi.com Support in case you missed your connection.
  • If you have checked baggage, follow the "Baggage claim" signs, collect your bag, and then drop it off at the check-in counter for your next flight in the departure hall. 
Fast Track Voucher (QR code)
  • If you are traveling with checked baggage and your layover time is 3 hours or less, your itinerary includes a free Fast Track voucher.
  • The QR Code can be found in Manage My Booking, the mobile app, and the email we sent to you about your ancillary service confirmation.
  • You can either use your mobile or a printed version of the QR code.
