Chicago travel tips

1) Check out the Cloud Gate sculpture in Chicago captured in the Source Code thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal

In the business district of Chicago, there is the famous Cloud Gate sculpture. It is a three-dimensional oval sculpture, curved in the shape of an arch. The author, Hindu Anish Kapoor, was inspired by a drop of mercury when creating the figure. Its surface is made of mirror-polished steel, due to which it distortedly reflects people, clouds, and surrounding skyscrapers. The sculpture is 3.7 meters high and weighs over 100 tons. In 2010, Cloud Gate was featured in the thriller Source Code.

2) Have a picnic at Garfield Park in Chicago and admire the buildings that surround it

In Garfield Park, you can have a picnic by the pond and admire the building of Garfield Park Gold Dome Field House. Today it houses a gymnasium, a dance school, and a fitness centre. Check out the park's conservatory, which often hosts lectures and exhibitions. You can visit this greenhouse for donations.

3) Don't forget that prices are always indicated without the tax in Chicago shops

The price shown on the price tag in the store is not yet final. At the checkout, the tax amount will be added to it, which may be different, depending on the category of goods. Therefore, there’s no point in preparing an exact amount for payment in advance.
