Malecón Gardens were designed during the 19th century. It’s a wonderful place to stroll around, enjoy nature, and have a cup of coffee. From there, you can move in the direction of Javalí Nuevo and find a bend of the river with picnic tables where everyone can have a rest and swim.

From Murcia, take a train to Cartagena — an important Naval base with a rich history. The ticket costs 8-11 euro, and the journey takes around 1 hour. When you get there, head on right to the Roman theatre, the entrance is on the plaza. After paying a fee (3 euro), you’ll get to the museum and end up in the open-air Roman Theatre. If you don’t want to visit the museum, take the broad stairs close to the museum entrance and find your way around. The view of the theatre from there is just amazing.

The highlight of Museum Salzillo is the nativity scene made from 600 pieces, the beauty of which is impressive. Apart from it, you’ll see many other religious-historical outstanding works of the sculptor and learn more about the history of Spain and Murcia. The entrance costs 5 euro. There are English guides who will walk you through the exhibits and tell you more about each detail. If you’re into history and art, you definitely can’t miss it.
