Donostia / San Sebastián travel tips
The second-largest beach in Donostia-San Sebastian remains lively in both winter and summer seasons. During the winter, surfers and bodyboarders come to Playa de Ondarreta to enjoy water sports. In summer, the beach is full of tourists on lounge chairs and sun parasols. The 100-metre-wide shoreline at Playa de Ondarreta stretches for about a kilometre up to Monte Igueldo. When wandering along the beach, you stumble into a sculpture of Queen María Cristina in a lovely garden.
Mount Igueldo is one of the popular destinations in San Sebastián, located right next to the city. This spot features spectacular landmarks like an old-school amusement park, lighthouse, and roller coaster rides. You can catch a vintage funicular to get to the top of Mount Igueldo.
This tiny square resembles a lovely garden with flower beds and duck ponds. A multicoloured flower clock is one of the attractions in Plaza de Gipuzkoa. You can have a rest and relish picturesque views. At Christmas time, the city plaza is busy with markets and giant nativity scenes.
