Jerez de la Frontera travel tips
Observe life in Jerez-de-la-Frontera like an aristocrat from the Palacio de Villavicencio
The Alcazar de Jerez is perhaps the most recognisable landmark in Jerez-de-la-Frontera. This is a whole architectural ensemble. Inside, you will find the Palacio de Villavicencio — a 17th-century Baroque palace with gardens where aristocracy watched life on the streets and squares of the city.
Visit the second-largest Andalusian lagoon in Jerez-de-la-Frontera
Natural Reserve Laguna de Medina is the second-largest lagoon in Andalusia. Surrounded by amazing plants, it also hosts interesting animal species, like Montagu's harriers, common buzzards and red kites; and you can easily feed them (but only by buying special food). To get there, take the bus A381 from Jerez towards Medina Sidonia, and the Laguna de Medina is on the left-hand side of the road at 10 kilometres.
Jerez-de-la-Frontera is not only “sherry”, but also “mosto”
Travelling in Jerez-de-la-Frontera, you will hear a million times about sherry. But it has one more interesting drink — mosto. It is a very young alcoholic grape drink taken out of the barrel just after the fermentation process has started. You can try mosto in Mesón Rociero Fragua 4 cafe.
