Old Erie Canal State Historic Park has a 36 miles stretch of restored towpath for you to enjoy — either on foot or by bike. You will be able to see the restored historic locks and read numerous information boards that give a rich insight into life on the canal. If you would rather be on the water, several parts of the canal are open to canoes and kayaks.

Situated on the university campus, Carrier Dome is a huge domed stadium with seating for 50,000. There are regular sporting events to watch, such as basketball, football, and lacrosse, but it is also a host of other events, including concerts and ice skating shows.

Situated just 15 minutes from the city, the Beaver Lake Nature Centre has more than nine miles of trails to explore and always has special events taking place. There are more than 200 different bird species to try and spot and 800 plant species. The focus of the park is the 200-acre lake that was formed by glaciation. You can hire a canoe and, during the migration season, stand in awe of the thousands of Canadian geese who use it as a resting point.
