Situated in the only remaining weigh-lock building, the Erie Canal Museum has all you have ever wanted to learn about canals and tells the canal’s interesting story and its positive impact on the area. It is said that no other means of transport had such a big impact on the area as the canal. There is a fully restored canal boat amongst the exhibits, and it is fun to climb aboard and imagine what life used to be like. Entrance into the museum is by donation rather than a fixed admission charge.

The five Stickley brothers were furniture makers, and more than 100 years ago, they founded the Stickley Furniture Company. Their work was much sought-after, especially their Mission Oak designs. Their customers were impressed by the high quality of the woods used, the excellent construction of the furniture and its practicality. The Stickley Museum in Fayetteville reveals the lasting legacy of the Stickley brothers, with many pieces of their furniture on display and interesting information about its significance. The Stickley Museum is open on Tuesdays 11:30 a.m — 5.00 p.m. and Saturdays 10.00 — 5.00 p.m.
