Explore the history of Nevada in-depths at the Nevada Historical Society Museum at 1650 North Virginia Street in Reno. It has operated since 1904. The most interesting permanent exhibits are "Living on the Land," "Neon Nights," and "Riches of the Earth." Make sure to visit all of them to get insight into the human habitation of the Reno area over the past 10,000 years.

Visit 5 Star Saloon at 132 West Street in Reno; it's one of the most amusing places in the city. Whether you are gay or straight, the smoky room with drag shows, weekend DJs and karaoke nights will impress you.

Have you ever thought about what Marilyn Manson's bar would look like? You may see it in Reno, at the Death & Taxes bar at 26 Cheney Street. It's all-black-everything in this place, from Chesterfield sofas, barstools and paint – even the windows are blacked out against the high desert sun – the only light is from two antique chandeliers over the bar. Drinks are also good; try Colonel Ricky's Tipple (botanist gin, watermelon, Malawi antlers vermouth, lime cordial, and soda).
