Every year, the three-mile bay Pig Roast is held on the last weekend of June. A group of men set up a floating barbecue with spit on Lake Oneida. Everyone visits them on boats, jet skis and canoes, from all over the lake. It’s an all-day event, with good food and music.

Columbus Circle and its plaza are one of the more popular neighbourhoods in downtown Syracuse. The circle is named after Christopher Columbus, and there is a monument that stands as the focal point of the plaza. There are two cathedrals on either side of Columbus Circle — the Catholic Immaculate Conception and the Episcopal St. Paul's. There are also two important county buildings — Onondaga County Courthouse and the John H. Mulroy Civic Centre.
