Edinburgh travel tips
1) You can get from Edinburgh airport to the city centre by bus in half an hour
Edinburgh Airport is 12 kilometres from the city centre. You can take the regular city bus 35, which will take you from the airport to Edinburgh train station for £1.60 (€1.8). There is also a tourist shuttle Lothian Buses Airlink, but it costs three times more.
2) You can drink water right from the tap in Edinburgh
Water in the UK is among the top 10 cleanest in the world. You can safely drink water directly from the tap. So take a reusable water bottle with you to save money. In Edinburgh restaurants, you can also order tap water for free.
3) Climb up to Edinburgh Castle, which sits atop an extinct volcano
The top of the rock has been inhabited since about 800 BC, and the castle itself was mentioned for the first time in the XII century. A ticket inside the castle costs 19 euro. Edinburgh Castle houses the Skunk Stone and the Crown of Scotland, so you will definitely love the exhibit. But you can also just walk around and enjoy the views.
