The nearest airport to the city center is Beijing Capital (PEK) Airport. It is 25 km from downtown Beijing. This airport is the second busiest in the world.

Three to five days will be enough to see all the city's main spots. If you're planning more days, you can explore the surroundings of Beijing or take a high-speed train to another town.

Both airports now serve international flights. By default, most flights still land at Beijing Capital (PEK) Airport. Beijing Daxing Airport is a new airport. It is more modern and compact, while PEK is very busy and huge.

Beijing is the most expensive city in China, but it is affordable for tourists from the US and Western Europe. Lunch or dinner at an average restaurant costs $3–6 per person. A double room in a mid-range hotel costs $40–70 per night.

Inside the 5th Ring Road, it's always safe to walk at night, even for female travelers. Other parts of Beijing could be safer. Thus, walking with others in the dead of night is best.
