Las Palmas travel tips
1) Pay attention to beaches marking in the Canaries
All beaches in the Canary islands are marked with coloured flags to indicate the level of ecology and safety. The most dangerous beaches are marked with a red flag; swimming is prohibited there. The beaches marked with yellow flags are designed for experienced swimmers as the current may be too strong. The cleanest and safest beaches are marked with a blue flag. Find one and enjoy your stay there!
2) No worries as for poisonous animals in Gran Canaria
Las Palmas, as well as the whole Gran Canaria, is a perfect place for those who are afraid of being bitten by insects and snakes. There are no poisonous scorpions, insects, and serpents on the island. Any other animals that can do any significant harm to human health are also absent. Even mosquitoes are rare here. If it usually troubles you a lot, staying in Gran Canaria, you don’t have to worry.
3) Discover Tamabada Park — a part of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve
Tamabada Park is the pride and joy of Gran Canaria. It is the biggest and oldest nature reserve on the island. It’s located on the west coast, 52 km away from Las Palmas. It will take you about an hour to get there by car. The park also enters UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. More than seven thousand hectares of untouched nature, endless ocean and far views of Tenerife.
