Glasgow travel tips
1) Come early on the weekend to Barras Market in Glasgow
The Barras Market works on Saturday and Sunday from 09:30 till 16:30, both indoors and outdoors. The vendors offer food, beverages, clothing, and even antiques there. However, it can get a little crowded, so it’s better to visit the market in the morning.
2) Touch the ancient walls of the Cathedral of Saint Mungo in Glasgow
The Cathedral of Saint Mungo, also known as the High Kirk of Glasgow or simply Glasgow Cathedral, was built in 1136, making it the oldest building in Glasgow. It used to be a Roman Catholic church, and now it’s an active Church of Scotland. The patron Saint of Glasgow, St. Mungo, is buried in a crypt in this building.
3) Head to Pollok House to view paintings by El Greco and Goya in Glasgow
Pollok House was built in the 18th century and was once home to many generations of the Stirling Maxwell families. Now it’s one of the National Trust for Scotland sites. Inside, you can see a huge collection of art, including works by Goya and El Greco. Also, you can admire the antique furniture and stunning decorations there or have a cup of tea in the former kitchen. The country house is surrounded by a beautiful garden with over 1,000 species of rhododendrons.
