Toulouse canals offer great places for a walk on a hot summer day
Toulouse is traversed by several rivers, including a large Garonne river. However, the city's waterfront also includes the banks of the Canal du Midi and the Canal de Brienne. The former, a renowned UNESCO site, stretches 240km from Toulouse to the Mediterranian. However, the adjacent Canal de Brienne is also a nice picturesque place. The combination of water and greenery make it a great location to wait out the wrath of the noonday sun

Like many other cities in France, Toulouse was once protected by strong walls. The city’s ramparts were built and enlarged from the 1st till the 16th century. The old town still has some of its remnants. Just keep your eyes open, and you can literally feel the history!

This beautiful example of a French Renaissance architecture is worth seeing because of its size, exceptional ornamentation, and remarkable condition. Since the 1990s, it has housed the Bemberg Foundation, one of the most renowned private art collections in Europe. Its highlights are 19th and early 20th century French paintings, including the works of Claude Monet and Edgar Degas. Among other exhibits there are sculptures, ancient books and furniture.
