Driving a car and parking in Toulouse centre may be tricky. To encourage the use of public transport, the operating company Tisséo offers some free parking areas. You can find them at the metro stations Balma-Gramont (1,360 places), Argoulets (900 places), Arènes (600 places), Basso-Cambo (540 places), and Jolimont (350 places). Just keep your validated bus or metro ticket and remember that the parks are open from 4:45 to 0:45.

Le Capitole houses the city hall of Toulouse and its National Theatre. The history of this place dates back to 1190, although today nothing remains of the original building. The pink brick facade in a Neoclassical style was constructed in 1750. The most prominent feature of the Capitol’s rear side is the 16th-century Donjon (the ‘Archive Tower’). Note that the magnificent, richly decorated interior is also worth your attention. The nearby square, Place du Capitole, hosts cultural exhibitions, markets, and concerts.

If you are not really hungry, going to a French restaurant may not be the best decision. It is popular for a restaurant to offer a ‘prix fixe’ — a meal of at least two courses served at a total fixed price. So eating a starter and leaving isn’t an option!
