Katowice travel tips
Set up your own prices for food in Katowice's Strefa Centralna cafe
While visiting Katowice, don’t forget to pay a visit to the concept cafe Strefa Centralna. It is located on Plac Sejmu Śląskiego 2. This place has a fixed price for drinks. However, it’s only up to you to decide how much to pay for a certain dish. But be aware, despite being nearly free, the bakery in this cafe is so delicious that you can easily drain your purse for it. According to frequent fliers opinion, the best dish here is a biscuit cake. You can choose any taste: apple, nut, strawberry. And for healthy lifestyle supporters, it's highly recommended to try a local FitFud dessert.
Opt for distinctly marked taxis in Katowice
Taxis are a great way to move around the city, but be careful while choosing your cab. It’d better be explicitly marked and have a rate card and a counter. A trip with some ‘privateer’ driver may cost you a pretty penny! You can also call some reliable company or make an online order. If you wish to pay with a credit card, check in advance if that is an option.
Beware of the Sunday Shopping Ban in Katowice
Since 2018 the Polish government has greatly restricted Sunday trading. In 2020 the shops were allowed to open only seven Sundays in the entire year. Żabka convenience stores, kiosks, pharmacies, gas stations, open-air markets, bakeries, and souvenir shops are exempt from the ban. However, that is only a fraction of what a true shopping fan will want to visit in Katowice. Make your plans accordingly!
