Málaga travel tips
1) Ask for the bill if you want to get it in Málaga restaurants | In Spain, it is considered rude to place a bill in front of the visitors, even if they’ve finished eating. The table or place at the bar is yours until you decide to leave. If that is the case, let the waiting staff know by saying ‘la cuenta, por favor’ (‘the bill, please’). |

2) Málaga is a safe city, but watch for pickpockets in crowded places | Violent crimes are rare in Málaga. You won’t feel uneasy on its streets even at night, especially in the city centre. Still, like any major tourist destination, it has its share of pickpockets. Don’t leave your valuables unattended, and keep a close eye on them around popular sights. Remember about commonplace precautions, and your trip to Málaga will pass without any misadventures! |
3) See the Neo-Gothic splendour of the Sagrado Corazón Málaga | This beautiful building is located in the middle of the Old Town, but is hidden in the side street — don’t miss it! The Sacred Heart Church was built in 1920. Fernando Guerrero Strachan, the revered local architect, called ‘the Gaudí of Málaga’, designed it. The church has an eye-catching facade in biscuit stone with the two spires and the Gothic tracery. It looks exceptionally fresh after the recent renovation. |
