Three great bronze wings, erected in 1967, are one of Katowice's most well-known landmarks. They commemorate Polish uprisings against the German authorities in 1919, 1920, and 1921. The hulking monument consists of 350 parts. Its total weight exceeds 61 tonnes, while the highest wing is 14 metres tall.
