Getting from Boston's airport to the city center

Boston is served by Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), located just 5 km east of downtown Boston across the harbor. The airport offers convenient airport transfers to city center destinations via the MBTA subway system, Silver Line bus, water taxi, traditional taxis, ride-hailing services, and private transfers. The Blue Line subway provides direct access to downtown, while the Silver Line bus offers a free connection to South Station. Journey times and costs vary depending on the transport mode, time of day, and traffic conditions.

  • The Silver Line SL1 is free when traveling from the airport to South Station; fare applies in the opposite direction.
  • Free shuttle buses connect all airport terminals to the Blue Line Airport station and the rental car center.
