Joan Miró was a Spanish painter and sculptor from Barcelona. Fundació Joan Miró has the largest collection of his surrealist works. It includes over 10,000 items: drawings, paintings, sculptures, carpets, and stage designs. The earliest drawings were created in 1901. The museum’s rooftop terrace offers not only colourful sculptures but also a splendid view of the city.

The museum is located in a medieval shipyard. That alone makes it worth a visit. Here you can see how the ships were built several centuries ago. The museum has an interesting collection of old ship models. Its highlight is the faithful reconstruction of the 60-metres-long royal galley, involved in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571.
