Lanzarote travel tips
When visiting the National Park of Timanfaya in Lanzarote, think twice before attending El Diablo restaurant
Being extremely popular among tourists, El Diablo has a bit higher prices than the average in Lanzarote. The main attraction of this place is cooking meat on a volcanic grill. Usually, the main course with this meat costs around 28 euro. Locals honestly say that one can not differentiate meat cooked on a volcanic grill from that one cooked in an ordinary oven.
To feel real Lanzarote vibes stay in Caserio de Mozaga hotel
Located on Calle Malva, 8 street, Caserio de Mozaga is a lovely traditional 18th-century farmhouse in typical Lanzarote style. A low white building with dark green paintwork and beamed ceilings look very cosy. Run by a local family, the various farm buildings have been turned into a laidback hotel without any luxurious things but with a very authentic atmosphere. Double rooms start from 80 euro here.
In Lanzarote, you can often hear “goodbye” from passing by strangers
Here in Lanzarote, people do not say “hello” as they pass people; they say “goodbye” or “see you later.” And the tradition of greeting everyone, even strangers, remains strong in rural Lanzarote, as well as it might happen in the city. So as people pass you, they will make eye contact and say “adios” or “hasta luego”. Feel free to reply the same.
