Málaga travel tips
1) Enjoy the street art of Málaga at the Soho district
If you are interested in more than classic sights, go to Soho, the hub of Málaga street art. The neighbourhood to the west of the city’s port has innumerable murals and graffiti, some of which are really remarkable. To make your must-see list, visit the MAUS project (Málaga Arte Urbano Soho) website. It provides a map with the most significant art-works.
2) Try Gazpachuelo Malagueño and espeto in Málaga
Gazpachuelo Malagueño should not be confused with gazpacho, famous cold tomato soup. It is a fisherman’s dish, including mayonnaise, egg yolk, fish and shrimp. Espeto is sardines, skewered and roasted over a barbecue pit. Most likely, you will find it on one of the beaches around the city. Just grab yourself a cold drink to wash it down and enjoy!
3) Look for a menu of the day at Málaga restaurants to keep your bill low
Many cafes and restaurants in Málaga, off the tourist track, offer cheap menú del día. For instance, the price for lunch, including the first course, main course, coffee or dessert, may start at €8. Note, however, that there are some great restaurants in Málaga where you can get a gourmet three-course lunch for less than €20. Indulging your inner connoisseur should cost you much!
