Barcelona travel tips
Visit Sant Pau Recinte Modernista — an Art Nouveau hospital complex in Barcelona
The complex was built between 1905 and 1930 as a garden city for the sick. It is one of the most well-known works by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, a Spanish architect who influenced the Catalan Art Nouveau movement. However, enjoying richly decorated roofs, domes, facades, and stained-glass windows isn’t the only thing you can do here. The hospital was founded long before the complex was built — in the 15th century. A special exhibition will tell you about one of Europe's oldest healthcare institutions.
See Barcelona from the highest viewpoint in the area at the Collserola Tower
The 288-metre Torre de Collserola was built for the 1992 Summer Olympics on Tibidabo hill. On its 10th floor, 560 metres above sea level, there is a public viewpoint. From here, you can see up to 70 km around! Go there and get a magnificent bird’s-eye view of Barcelona.
Take a boat cruise to see Barcelona from a new perspective
Climbing hills and observation points aren’t the only way to get a different view of the city. Those, who like sea voyages, will appreciate a water tour, offering a good view of Barcelona’s landmarks. Note, however, that the sea can be a little rough in spring and autumn.
