Madrid travel tips
At least one drink is included in the admission ticket to nightclubs in Madrid, but stay responsible
Drinks are always included in the nightclub entrance ticket in Madrid. If you're offered a choice and don't want a hangover in the morning, go for the beer, not strong spirits – they are usually not of the best quality here. Locals call such diluted alcohol in nightclubs garrafón. The famous clubs in Madrid are Sala Siroco, Joy Eslava, and others.
Stop by the Madrid Atocha train station to appreciate its beauty and floating garden
The old building of the Atocha station resembles a palace. Inside you will find a real tropical garden with turtles and toads. The building was built in 1852 but has been rebuilt several times. Trains leave already from the new terminal, which is located nearby.
Be sure to check out the statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree – the symbol of Madrid
The statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree is one of the notable sculptures in Madrid. It was installed in the Puerta del Sol square in 1966. The statue is a copy of the image on the Madrid coat of arms. One version says it symbolises the different influences of church and state (the tree stands for the church). Another version says the beast eating berries from the tree signifies the unity of nature – flora and fauna.
