Madrid travel tips
Enter the Prado Museum for free almost any day of the week, but arrive early
From Monday to Saturday, the Prado Museum has free hours – from 18:00 to 20:00. However, you need to arrive at least an hour in advance and queue up at the main entrance (not from the metro side!).
Enjoy a view of Madrid from the observation deck of El Corto Inglés department store
The best spot to see Madrid from above is on the top floor of the El Corto Inglés department store. Just take the elevator to the top floor, walk through the gastronomy and café floor, and head to the terrace. It's free.
If you want to save on lunch in Madrid, ask for menu del dia in a cafe
Menu del dia or menu turistico is 2-3 hearty dishes and a drink. These menus are available in many tourist cafes and cost 8-15 euro per person.
